Essential Oil Yeasty Beasty

Is Your Dog a Yeasty Beasty?

As a veterinarian I see this condition probably daily.  It can range in seriousness from a nail bed discoloration to an all over body misery.  I want to help you recognize this condition and help you nip it in the bud - before it becomes an all over body misery for everybody in the home - especially your fur baby!

Yeast, in the ears and on the nail beds, looks brown and waxy.  It can be cleaned away only to reappear hours later.  Until the infection is treated, it doesn't just go away and it can't be cleaned away.  On the skin it looks pink or red and often slightly damp.  Dogs lick the area incessantly because of how itchy it is.  Often the hair is discolored to a brownish-red from all of the licking and staining from the yeast and the saliva.  The skin can look thick and have deep folds, looking like "elephant skin".

Within the ear, you will notice brown, waxy debris in the ear canal - but red inflamed skin under the ear flap.  Often it has an odor as well.

This is an exceptionally uncomfortable skin disease and causes intense itch and skin inflammation.  The ideal situation is to notice it when it first begins and start treatment right away.  Often you can see it in the underarm area or in skin folds near the back legs or the face in dogs with facial folds.

If you notice right away, begin treatment right away.  Bathing and then using something like Yeasty Beasty spray will help stop this before it gets worse.

If you have a dog with an intense yeast problem - you will need to see your vet to treat any underlying conditions and possibly to have some oral medication prescribed.

If you have a dog that you know is prone to developing yeast - start prevention now!  Shampoo regularly and use Yeasty Beasty twice weekly in the problem areas - nail beds, underarms, lower abdomen.  Just give a spray over their hair coat and pet in all over their body!

This is an all natural essential oil.  This means that the spray goes transdermally through the skin and begins working right away.  It also means your dog can lick it safely because they also get benefits of this by ingesting it or inhaling it.  All three ways will aid in reducing yeast on your dog's body.

You can apply this anywhere your dog is experiencing a yeast problem - including under the ear flap.  Focus on those nail beds as they are probably spreading it on the body as they scratch different areas.  You can spray mist their bedding to help kill all those yeasty beasties, too!

If they have an active infection, apply a few times daily until things are better.  Then use it twice weekly for maintenance.

The benefit of this all natural essential oil is in the blend of oils made by a veterinarian especially for dogs.  It is the perfect combination to kill those yeast organisms AND boost your pet's immune system and give additional health benefits.
